Snapchat has now introducing a new camera mode that makes selfies more 3D-like. The new 3D Camera Mode feature lets you take Snaps that can change perspective and appearance as you move your smartphone around.

Snapchat 3D Camera Mode gives you the ability to use 3D Effects, 3D Lenses and 3D Filters, and you can then post to your Stories, share in chat or even save to your camera roll. The 3D camera mode can be used to create photos that change in appearance based on how a person holds their phone.

This camera mode uses the smartphone’s depth data to create a dimensional image complete with Snapchat’s iconic augmented reality lenses.

Snapchat has adopted the advantage of Apple's TrueDepth camera system that the Cupertino firm uses for features such as Face ID and Animojis.

Created three-dimensional Snaps can be viewed by anyone on the app. This feature will support different camera sensors and Android devices.

According to Snapchat, it's leveraging Apple's TrueDepth Camera to take a high-quality image, and then use depth data to reconstruct a 3D model that looks and feels like a mini diorama that iPhone's camera has used earlier.

To access this feature, users just need to click the drop-down menu inside the camera mode and select the 3D option.

For now, the new feature requires a front-facing camera with depth data.

With this feature, you can rotate and wiggle your smartphone to get that 3D effect on selfie Snaps. The 3D selfies can be shared like any Snap inside chats or Stories.

More than 203 million people using Snapchat on a daily basis, as per company reports. The company hopes that this 3D Camera Mode will let the users to add a new layer of expression and interactivity to static images.
